Tattoo aftercare instructions: a template for your clients

Short answer: keep it clean, keep it lightly moisturised, keep it out of the water and the sun, and do not pick. Give every client the same written steps – and check in on the days it matters.

The steps

1

Bandage

Keep the bandage or second skin on as long as your artist told you.

2

Wash

Gently, with lukewarm water and a mild unscented soap – with clean hands. Pat dry with paper towel.

3

Moisturise

A very thin layer of aftercare balm 2–3 times a day. Less is more.

4

Do not pick

Peeling and itching are normal around days 4–10. Do not scratch or pick.

5

No soaking, no sun

No swimming, baths, saunas or sun for 2–3 weeks. Loose, clean clothes.

6

Healed

Use sunscreen on your tattoo for life to keep it bright.

When to check in

How GITECHY INK helps

After every session the client gets your aftercare instructions by email (English or Spanish, per service: tattoo, piercing, PMU, tooth gem), short check-ins on the days you choose, a review request and a request for a healed photo, which lands in the client file.
